We have an income-based rent system with a minimum (260) and maximum (460) threshold. So 360 is just an indication of the middle price and it's not fixed.
City center; 10 minutes walking to the station or the nature.
We are a living group of 7 people situated in a former squat in the city Centre of Nijmegen. As a living group we share a big kitchen and livingroom together. Also there are 2 bathrooms and toilets that are shared. We share a roof terrace, guestroom, bikeshed and other communal spaces with the other living group in our building.
The room that will become available is around 20m2 on the first floor, freshly painted and It has a big bed platform build into it, so the room is even more spacious. You have a big window looking down on the street.
Description coliving group
Over the course of 30 years The Grote Broek has grown into socially active, nonprofit and rebellious space. It hosts De Klinker; a Vegan café, De Onderbroek; a D I Y live music venue, a practice space for bands, a few offices and foundations; from involvement in art and printing to helping refugees. There is always a lot of diverse things going on and to live in de Grote Broek can be a bit chaotic, but always interesting. You are very much encouraged to be part of one of the two collectives that suit you; it can be cooking in the klinker, organizing music shows in the Onderbroek, designing killer posters, repair the klinker kitchen, be in charge of ordering food and drinks or find obscure documentaries that needs to be seen by a wider audience.
We like to eat together (vegan) and everyone is required to cook once a week, so when you come home from studies or work there is a nice plate of food waiting for you. It’s also important to mention that the building is vegan, but you don’t have to be to live here.
The group is a diverse and easy-going mix of people from their early twenties to end thirties, some students, some enslaved to the capitalist machinery (aren’t we all?), and all engaged in various political and social movements that have meaning to us. We try to be respectful of one another’s time, space, and ideas. We take decisions collectively and horizontally in housemeetings. We take care of the building ourselves so it would be amazing if you have experience or if you are eager to help maintain the place.
We are preferably looking for a non-dutch and above 25 years old person, who is interested in non-parliamentary politics and activism. But of course, we are open to applications from those who fall outside of that, just make sure to include an introduction of yourself, why you would like to live in de Broek, and how you think you can contribute to the space.
It's required to take up on an active role in the house too; so this could be volunteering in a collective or help in maintaining the building. Whatever suits your energy and time :)
You can send a message either to Dieke or to Jesse at firstname.lastname@example.org
We'll organize a 'kijkavond' where we invite you for a vegan dinner. It's just you the entire evening so we can get to know you and see if we are a match :).
