There is a room freeing up on the "cat side" of the house on the first floor, which sits on top of De Onderbroek. The room is approximately 22sqm and has two windows. You share the hallway with the kitchen, two offices, 3 other housemates, and a beautiful black cat. The toilets and shower are around the corner.
Beschrijving woongroep
The woongroep is located on top of De Klinker and De Onderbroek. These three collectives, plus others which use the space, cooperate to take care of the entire building. The building was squatted in 1984 and legalized in 2002. It has a long activist/anarchist history which we try to uphold.
The living group has monthly meetings with either side of the house and for the whole building. We are currently going through a restructuring process because we are trying to purchase the building. This means that the organizations in the building are working together to update our structures (metaphorical and physical). This free room was an office until now, but will be converted into a bedroom from now on.
Huidige samenstelling
We are a living group of 16 people (including you) separated into two sides of the building. We're a diverse household with people of different backgrounds and identities who are linked by our interest in community building and intersectional activism. We cook vegetarian dinners for each other on both sides every week and occasionally have shared meals with the whole house. Besides that we also have movie nights and sometimes end up studying, working or going to protests and parties together. Several housemates also choose to volunteer in de Klinker, de Onderbroek and other collectives downstairs. At the moment we are focused are strengthening the infrastructure (both physical and metaphorical) of the building. It is expected that you are enthusiastic about joining regular meetings and cooking for the house once a week.
Gezochte personen
Living in De Broek is a commitment, and we are looking for someone who a) can live here for a long time and b) is willing to engage with the community in their own way. We welcome both practical skills (plumbing! electrical! cooking!) as well as emotional/intellectual (conflict resolution! care! bureaucracy!). We would love someone who has experience with community living and community building, whether through activism or other means. Because we are in the process of (hopefully!!) buying the building, we are hoping for someone with a capacity for Dutch bureaucracy (but it's not a requirement).
Unfortunately, we are at pet capacity, so we cannot welcome any new creatures at the moment (unless it's like, a goldfish). You will be living on top of a punk venue so tolerance to noise (on weekends) is a must. We will consider candidates aged 21 and up.
