I’m Rolf, 34 years old, social, active and usually easy to convince when someone suggests a spontaneous plan. I get a lot of energy from several communities, including a musical jam group, ecstatic dance, a board-sports community and the slacklining community.
People often describe me as someone who can get excited about almost anything—and who probably has too many hobbies. There is some truth to that: I slackline, surf, skate, climb and boulder, play guitar, dance, practise yoga and contact improvisation, and create visuals for parties. I’m also quite a plant enthusiast. This may make it sound as though my schedule is always full, but in practice I often have plenty of time for shared meals, relaxed company and spontaneous plans with housemates.
I enjoy conversations that go beyond small talk and like exploring things on both a practical and spiritual level. Having studied Architecture and the Built Environment at TU Delft, I definitely have an analytical and technical side. At the same time, meditation, yoga and the connection between body and mind have brought me a lot of positivity. That combination of down-to-earth thinking and spirituality suits me well.
I’m empathetic, honest and easy-going. By being a little silly or playing the fool from time to time, I try to help people feel comfortable quickly. Very few conversation topics feel too strange to me, so I feel most at home with people who are curious, open-minded and perhaps a little unconventional.
During the day, I work as a web developer at Innobrix. We are essentially building a kind of SimCity, but for real-world housing and urban development. It brings together my interests in architecture, technology, creativity and social impact.
I’m not only looking for a room, but for a place where people share their lives naturally. I would enjoy occasionally eating together, making spontaneous plans or having meaningful conversations, while of course respecting everyone’s own life and need for privacy or quiet time. I would be happy to contribute to an open, welcoming and connected atmosphere.
