Our house is located next to Almere Oostvaarders train station, with direct trains to Amsterdam (30 mins) and Utrecht (40 mins). It’s also just a 5-minute walk to the stunning Oostvaardersplassen nature reserve—home to wild horses, deer, and diverse birdlife. The house is located across the street of a large park and at 3 minutes from a small forest where it's ideal to go for a walk in the morning.
We have an organic CSA community garden with fresh vegetables approximately 5 km from our house and a regular supermarket at 1 minute walking distance from our house. - Common space(s)

Our home is a sustainable small community which we like to call 'De Groene Leguaan'. We are completely vegan, including our dog, and we live in a way that reflects our love for nature, sustainability, and community.

We’re Veerle (37), Pablo (36), and Mila (11). Veerle is Belgian, Pablo is Dutch, Mila is a bit of both. At home we talk in Dutch, but when we host international housemates or guests we just as easy switch to English. Our part-time dog Ivy is almost 12 years old and divides her time between our home and the house of another family in Almere.
Our family is open-minded and always curious to meet new people. Pablo and Veerle are both founders of a food awareness organization called ProVeg. Since we both work from home most days of the week, we spend a lot of time in the shared living room together and we are looking for a person who also enjoys a healthy balance between private/focus time alone and socializing.
We are all quite nerdy and quirky. Veerle spends a lot of time reading books on agro-ecology, conscious relating, mindfulness, regeneration, ancient wisdom, gardening, vegan cooking and leadership. Mila is more into eating (and cooking) delicious vegan food, baking muffins, loving and collecting puffins and the magic of mathematics. Pablo's fascination with palindromes led him to start a small linguistic mini-museum in our living room and his background as a biologist resulted in a collection of fossils, minerals, plastic animal models and a broad collection of eggs.
Our house is kind of a Villa Kakelbont, with rainbow colors on the walls, hundreds of books in the book cases, a huge Harry Potter maquette in the living, children's drawings on the doors of the communal space and a lovely dog roaming through the house. We love it, but we are aware we need a housemate who is able to deal with it as well :)

We’re looking for someone who:
- Is vegan (or vegetarian, willing to live vegan at home). This might seem exclusive and we don't want to be discriminating against people with other diets. However, our house and kitchen have been free of animal flesh, dairy and eggs since we moved in. We would like to keep it that way. Our daughter has never eaten animal products and might react allergic if she does so by accident. By sharing the same ethics related to food, we are able to share the kitchen facilities without risks of confusing products by accident or cross contamination. Also, it is more fun if we are able to use the opportunity to cook together and share food sometimes.
- Shares our love for gardening, growing vegetables, and connecting with nature.
- Enjoys a collaborative household vibe, takes initiative in weekly household shores in the shared spaces with optional cooking shifts and shared meals (though it’s fine if you prefer to cook solo).
- We welcome singles, couples, or a parent with kid. Our 11-year-old daughter Mila would especially love to have another child around!
