Location
We live in the Biezen neighbourhood, close to the Waal river. It’s a 10 minute walk to the city centre and 15 to the train station. If you’re cycling, it’s about 15 minutes to the Ooij nature reserve and 20 minutes to Heumensoord forest.
Common space(s)
We share a living room with kitchen, bathroom, toilet, basement, storage shed and a sunny garden between the four of us. Across the road we have a larger, shared garden with sheds for shared tools and gardening equipment.
Private spaces(s)
We have two rooms available:
One room is on the 1st floor, and gets sun in the morning, is approximately 16 m2 in total, divided between the main room and a second, smaller sleeping and storage/chill space. The main room has a built-in wardrobe, and the sleeping room has a built-in high-sleeper bed and lots of storage room underneath (standing-room for anyone up to 150cm tall!).
The second available room is on the ground floor and is approximately 17,5 m2 and also gets sun in the morning with a large window. This room is one space with no built-in storage and lovely high ceilings, so it’s a blank slate for you to furnish and decorate to your heart’s desire.
Description coliving group
The living association consists of five houses in the same street, and altogether there are 24 people living here. The four houses on the opposite side have a shared garden, and our back garden is private. We often visit each other to hang out, and we sometimes have activities organised by different members or houses. Every summer we organise Bronsfeest, a big theme-party which we create altogether, and we invite friends. It’s very important that our new housemate is enthusiastic about living in a co-living group, and is willing to put effort into the community. We have a number of committees, and each house has a representative, so we share those responsibilities between the four of us living at number 34. It is also mandatory for all members to be present for the General Members Assembly (twice a year, sometimes with extra if there is a specific need), and to be present for the maintenance and repair weekends which are at fixed times four times per year.
Current composition
At 34 we live together with four people, Christina (42), Akhil (31), and you, our two new housemates. Christina is Irish and Akhil is Indian and we primarily speak English, but also dabble in Dutch. We’re a close-knit house and we’re looking for a new housemate who wants to be involved and connected. We have a cooking schedule (we eat together at least 4 times per week taking turns to plan and make dinner for each other). We like to watch silly little tv-shows, have lots of tea, and do spontaneous things together.
Christina (she/her) likes cosy chats over a homemade hot chocolate, and loves all sorts of crafts and sometimes overly-ambitious DIY projects. She is also learning about GMing for Dungeons and Dragons. She has been thinking about getting a dog for a while, and now that we don’t have a resident cat this might be the moment, so our new housemate needs to be dog-loving or at least kindly dog-tolerating (and not allergic).
Akhil (he/him) appreciates spice in his food as much as he does in conversations, but don’t worry, he respects your heat-tolerance as well as your interest in philosophy :) In his spare time he is often found watching anime and old movies, playing chess, and listening to ghazal.
Ideal resident
We’re looking for someone who brings their own signature to the house, who wants to create a family feeling, and is LGBTIQ+ friendly. On top of that, it would be a big plus if you like paneer and ridiculous ginger cats (we have three in the woongroep and they sometimes visit us).
If you’re interested in becoming our new housemate, send us a message telling us about yourself to 34@ardebrons.nl (preferably before the 29th of May). We’re inviting people in the first week of June, so please try to be available then. If you think you’d be the perfect match but you really can’t make it work during that week, please still reach out.
