Ideal location
Since we have to leave our home soon, we are looking for a new home somewhere in Amsterdam. One can not be too picky in terms of neighbourhood, but since we have to be south of the IJ on a daily basis, Noord would be a challenge in terms of commuting ;-)
Ideal space
Ideally, Uma would have her own room, which wouldn't have to be big. I'd like my bedroom big enough to fit a bed, a cupboard and, if possible, a desk.
Ideal group
We would prefer to find a home with shared facilities again, because we like fun and joint activities, whether that is a chat, a chore or an evening meal. I don't smoke, but I do like to share a drink with my housemates.
Describe yourself
My name is Niels and I have been living in Amsterdam since 1997, with the exception of a few years of travelling. Uma, my hypersocial five-year-old daughter, stays with me half the week. We would love if there are some kids in the group to play with. She is hardly ever shy and she is good fun for adults too.
Currently I work 4 days a week as a copywriter. In my free time I like to play sports, go hiking in nature and plan excursions in my overland truck. I'm involved with cultural free haven Ruigoord where I stage performances for various events.
I am also the secretary for a housing cooperative that will build about 40 rental homes in Amsterdam. Unfortunately, those types of real estate projects move slowly and it will take at least 5 years before those homes are built. Until then, I'd love to be your friendly neighbour.
